Position: Customs Clearance Officer
Job Summary
Vertex Cargo International is looking for a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Customs Compliance Specialist to manage import and export customs procedures while ensuring full compliance with international trade regulations. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing customs documentation, coordinating with customs authorities, and supporting the smooth clearance of shipments to minimize delays and maintain efficient cargo movement.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review import and export customs documentation with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ensure all shipments comply with customs regulations, trade laws, and company compliance standards.
- Coordinate with customs authorities, freight partners, and customs brokers to facilitate timely cargo clearance.
- Verify shipping documentation, commercial invoices, packing lists, and supporting documents before submission.
- Prepare and process customs declarations while ensuring all required information is complete and accurate.
- Investigate and resolve customs-related issues, documentation discrepancies, and shipment delays promptly.
- Maintain organized customs records and ensure all compliance documentation is properly archived.
- Provide guidance to customers and internal teams regarding customs procedures, documentation requirements, and regulatory compliance.
- Stay informed about changes in customs regulations, import/export policies, and international trade requirements.
- Support seamless customs clearance operations to ensure cargo moves efficiently through ports and border checkpoints.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field.
- Previous experience in customs clearance, trade compliance, freight forwarding, or import/export operations is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of customs procedures, international shipping documentation, and import/export regulations.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail when handling customs documentation.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the ability to work under deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and customs documentation systems.
- Ability to manage multiple shipments while maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
